Developing Your MLM Mindset Today, I'd like to talk to you about developing the right MLM mindset. I truly believe that "how" and "what" we think has a HUGE impact on our success in this industry and in life. If you want to succeed in network marketing, you have to develop the the proper mindset. You need to overcome your self-limiting beliefs, self-talk, and negative thoughts. You need to THINK like a top producer. Listed below are some of my best tips on how to develop the right MLM Mindset. These are valuable lessons I learned during the past 12-years. # 1 The average business, of any kind, takes a year or two just to make a profit and five to ten years to become stable and successful. You will not get rich quick in ANY business. During the first year or two you might work for less than minimum wage. That is normal with new business owners. Remember, with a business you are building an asset, not working a job. # 2 Your goal in network marketing shouldn't be to make an immediate income. Instead, your goal should be to create an ASSET that continues to pay you INCOME for many months (or years) to come. That is the difference between linear and residual income. If you're just trying to make a few extra dollars, get a part-time job instead of doing network marketing. If you want to create something that can pay your long-term, even if you stop working, consider MLM. # 3 It's not your job to convince people to join your business. We are in the sorting business, not the selling business. Your job is to share what you have with others. It's up to them to see the opportunity and value in what you are offering them. If they don't see the value, go talk to someone else instead. That is a much smarter approach than trying to convince someone to buy or join. # 4 People join people, not businesses. Your business will only grow as much as you do. You must work on your skills, attitude and mindset daily. Skills pay the bills! Read daily, listen to tapes, watch inspirational videos, associate with successful people, counsel with your mentor and have a personal development plan. Get a little bit better every single day and let the Compound Effect take over! # 5 You need a game-plan. All successful businesses have a written business plan and marketing plan. You need to do the same thing with your network marketing business. Identify your WHY, set your goals, develop your game-plan, fine tune your daily mode of operations and get to work. Without a solid game-plan, you are doomed to fail. # 6 This business is a NUMBERS game. Even if you were giving away free money, some people would still tell you NO. It is human nature. You will have to approach thousands of people to recruit hundreds of people to find three to five leaders who go out and build a big business of their own. Talk to five to ten people a day, every day, for several years, and you can easily work through the numbers. Even a part-timer can do that. # 7 Like any other business, you must be willing to invest in your business. This includes your business education. If you bought a franchise and the franchiser told you to attend an event, you would go. If you had traditional business and your mentor told you to buy a book, you would buy it. Do not nickel and dime your business to death. Invest in technology, business tools, advertising and anything that will help you grow your business. The best advice I ever heard about this topic was to "ACT AS IF you have ONE-MILLION dollars invested in your business!" # 8 You need to understand your real business. While you might love your product, service, or opportunity, your real business is MARKETING your products and business opportunity. You only get paid to retail and recruit. Everything else is non-productive work. That means you must spend your "work hours" talking to people.
